The NYC design and style community stepped out on November 1st, joining domino + Ethan Allen for a chic, fall fête to celebrate the opening of Ethan Allen‘s new Design Center in the Flatiron neighborhood. The showroom floor was packed, the Moët was flowing, and Ethan Allen artisans were on-hand to demonstrate the handcrafted, American-made quality of the brand’s products. We’ve rounded up a few things you may not have known (but should) about this iconic brand.

They just opened a brand new Design Center in Flatiron…

…and it’s beautiful. Located on the corner of Broadway & 21st Street, it’s in a prime locale to swing by for some weekend shopping, followed by a stroll through Madison Square Park and a pit stop at the original Shake Shack, of course.

They have 300 Design Centers worldwide…

…and each one is meticulously planned and styled. All of Ethan Allen’s products are sold exclusively through Ethan Allen brick & mortar locations or on the Ethan Allen website. Here, VP of Style, Jim DeBernardo, walks Christie Ferrari  through the showroom design process.

Most of their products are handcrafted in North America.

Ethan Allan makes what they sell, and 70% of their products are made in workshops located right here in North America. To celebrate American design, they invited four of their artisans to come demonstrate their own specialized craft live at the event. The artisans included an upholsterer, a seamstress, a gilder, and a dimensional paper artist (bonus: our guests walked away with custom coasters, paper goods, and bags made from recycled upholstery fabric scraps from their workshop in North Carolina!)

Let’s talk custom.

From fabrics, leathers, and finishes to monograms, trims, and pulls, Ethan Allen encourages their customers to create pieces that are all their own. With all of the customizations they offer, including hundreds of fabrics, the style combinations are endless.

It’s not all tables and chairs.

In addition to their extensive collection of furniture, Ethan Allen also knows the importance of accessories. From chic lighting to wall art to accent pillows, Ethan Allen is your one-stop-shop for effortless style.

They’re committed to quality.

Farooq Kathwari, President, Chairman and CEO, has lead the company for over 25 years, ensuring that the quality of Ethan Allen products are held to the highest standard. Here, he introduces fashion and travel blogger Kat Tanita to Ethan Allen seamstress, Shirley Parker, who has been crafting products for the company for over 30 years!

Domino loves Ethan Allen

More specifically, we love how easy they make it to customize their classic styles to your own personal aesthetic. Our team took to the showroom floor and tagged some of our fave products with the coveted ‘domino loves’ tags.

And, we’ll take one of these for our cozy, winter hideaway upstate, please (but, first, we’ll need that cozy, winter hideaway upstate).

There’s an Ethan Allen | Disney collection…

…and it’s really good. We love this armchair, where Mickey Mouse’s larger than life silhouette kind-of reminds us of a great cowhide print. The new Ethan Allen | Disney collection is bright, spunky, and, most importantly, fun, while still retaining Ethan Allen’s commitment to timeless design.

An oversized desk lamp? Yes, please. We love the Ethan Allen | Disney collection’s bold use of primary colors, paired with stark black and white, á la vintage Mickey Mouse. You can see the collection in person at most Design Centers!

Our friends at Moët kept the bubbly flowing all night long (how cute are these mini bottles, btw?).

If there’s anything the domino team loves just as much as great design, it’s a great party!

Until next time…
