All white walls

“Painting my white room white. Yep. That sounds insane, until you’ve done it and realize that not all white paints are equal. Our style editor, Elaina, helped me paint every inch one fall afternoon last year and it made all the difference. The white pops, and makes everything in the room look so much better and brighter. Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace is a difference maker.”

The most colorful cutlery

“I first started seeing rainbow-finished cutlery right as I was about to move into my first one-bedroom apartment! It was the first thing I purchased for my new ~solo~ space. Using it brings so much happiness to my life—no joke. I also paired it with millennial pink dishware, which is just the perfect combo.”

A deep blue dresser in a whitewashed studio

“I’m really big on the whole whitewashed minimalist approach to design, so when it came to furnishing my studio apartment, it more or less dictated the pieces I chose to bring in. That being said, I took a risk and splurged on this beautiful, washed-wood dresser in the most stunning shade of indigo. It has essentially become the focal point of my home and easily my favorite piece of furnishing so far.”

Making a totally white bed

“I know this may seem obvious, but investing in all-white bedding was one of my favorite decisions. My small space was feeling cluttered, no matter how many space-saving tricks I employed. The all-white bedding didn’t solve my problem, but it definitely cleaned everything up, giving my room a crisp look and feel.”

The perfect set of string lights

“My balcony is definitely the space in my house that I’m the most happy with. The tiny space is a work in progress every year, but this summer I upgraded my lighting with these commercial grade string lights. I was worried that the thick cord would overwhelm the railing, but they are sturdy enough to withstand ninth floor winds and rain, and the warm yellow hue looks great.”
