Drew Barrymore just released the fall collection for her quirky-cool decor line at Walmart, Flower Home, and there are plenty of serotonin-boosting goodies to choose from (we’re looking at you, pink sofa). But there’s one product in particular that caught our attention for it’s rental friendliness: peel-and-stick wallpaper in several vivid new colorways.

We’re already imagining the ways we’d put the playful patterns to work in our apartment, and none involve the walls. From a moody kitchen backsplash to a bookshelf almost too pretty to fill with actual books, here are three of our favorite unexpected locations for peel-and-stick—and you’ll still get your deposit back when you move out.

Hit the Floor

Painting your floors in a rental apartment isn’t always an option, but in Flower Home’s fall campaign, a romantic botanical print covers half the wall, then extends all the way down to cover the ground, too—the same effect as a floral rug but for much less. (Just make sure to seal it with a clear finish, says design blogger Medina Grillo.)

Make a Splash

In Domino executive creative director Kate Berry’s Manhattan rental, the kitchen got a moody update thanks to a few pieces of fiberboard and an Hermès wallpaper. The secret to making it splatterproof? Adding glass panels over her work.

Treat Your Shelf

Textile designer Aelfie Oudghiri’s Bridgehampton home features floor-to-ceiling bookshelves that she couldn’t let stay white. Thanks to a vibrant wallpaper, the shelves serve as both storage and art installation.
