Gone are the days of cubicle rows and communal conference tables, but that doesn’t mean the need for a functional desk has disappeared—it has actually increased (hello, never-ending WFH life!). Whether you’re working from home Monday through Friday or you’ve got kids bringing back tests and textbooks, you want the piece of furniture to feel cool, not corporate. You’re not living in an office building, after all. Cue Crate & Barrel’s Twist grasscloth rotating desk.

With two tiers that rotate a full 360 degrees, the piece, beloved by designers and editors alike, is like the spaceship version of an office desk. Swing the bottom table out fully for an extra-long worktop or simply unfurl it halfway so it fits perfectly in a tight corner. Even Emily Henderson Design’s Jess Bunge is a fan. When the editorial director recently redesigned the office in her Los Angeles apartment, she positioned the desk in front of her bay window and styled one side with books and accessories, and put her computer on the other. The grasscloth covering doesn’t immediately read “desk,” she pointed out in a recent blog post, which means it blends in perfectly with her other living room decor. And whenever she wants to host parties at her place, she can quickly remove her things, swivel the sneaky base cabinet at the center around to the back, and use it as a skinny dining table.

The best part: As part of Crate & Barrel’s current 30-percent-off furniture promotion, the Twist desk is currently priced $800 less. But the WFH solution isn’t the only find we’re eyeing. Leanne Ford’s Fields cane settee and the Hotel bench designed in collaboration with Shinola are also steeply discounted, leading us to believe it is time we pivot our current furniture setup in a new direction.
