Are you getting a head start on your spring decorating? If so, don’t neglect your walls. While giving your home a fresh coat of paint may not be the most financially sound idea—particularly if you’re renting—there are plenty of great removable wallpapers out there that will give your space a new look at a relatively low risk. And we know just where you should start looking: Chasing Paper just debuted a brand new temporary wallpaper line, in partnership with LA-based artist Carolyn Suzuki.

“I have been wanting to go into home decor for as long as I can remember. Personally, I love to beautify my living space and love the idea of wallpaper, but have always been hesitant to commit to a design,” says Suzuki of how the partnership came about. “I met

founder] Elizabeth Rees at an event I was co-hosting with a few other designer friends of mine in New York last year. The peel-and-stick aspect of [%2190%] is the perfect solution for someone like me, so it’s a dream come true to be working with them.”

Suzuki is known predominantly for her cheery, hand-drawn cards. Featuring intricate designs and whimsical prints, they’re both kid-friendly and adult-approved. She brings the same versatility to this spring collection, which is available to shop today at chasingpaper.com.

“When I was a kid, my mom wallpapered every single room in the house. There was a Toulouse Lautrec wallpaper in our downstairs bathroom based on his Moulin Rouge posters, a chinoiserie wallpaper in my parents’ room, and wild animal wallpaper in our living room. I decided to do my own take on them,” says Suzuki.

Her take includes four designs, each available in multiple colorways. Space Odyssey, an outer, space-inspired print perfect for any kids’ room, and Lioness, an animal pattern, are the two most straightforward graphics in the collection—one that Suzuki describes as being “all about adventure.”

The two more abstract prints are Ladies, quite literally a print of cartoon women, and California Toile. The latter is Suzuki’s favorite, and features scenes of the outdoors in the summertime. “[It’s] especially close to my heart,” says the artist of the pattern. “I like the fun details—the pool swimming, the gardening, the partying—but because it’s a single color, it would work well in any room.”

The playful designs retail for $40 per 2×4 foot panel, and there are numerous ways to add the wallpaper into your home. Try an accent wall or spruce up parts of the house that are generally ignored, like your staircase or old furniture pieces. Fun and irreverent, the prints exemplify the transformative power of home design—something that Suzuki fully set out to do from the get-go.

“A stranger who saw my work once guessed that I was from a place where there was a lot of space—she was right, I’m from Los Angeles—because my work had a lot of ‘breathing room.’ The collection is all about that: There’s fun stuff happening in each print and there’s a lot to look at, but it’s spacious and calming at the same time,” she says.
