CB2’s Next in Design report, a survey of more than 1,000 designers from the brand’s trade program, confirmed all our suspicions: Textured upholstery and woven accents aren’t going anywhere in 2022. Vintage and sustainable materials are also coming into sharper focus this year for 31 percent of those surveyed. With the return of at-home entertaining, the report states that “people are willing to spend on seating again,” and if last year’s best-sellers are any indication, that won’t stop anytime soon.

The Gwyneth Bouclé Chair

This swivel seat came out on top in 2021. Since its launch in 2018, the rounded armchair (designed as part of the Goop x CB2 collaboration) has sold out time and time again. We get it—sitting in it feels like a hug, and it’s Gwyneth Paltrow–approved.

The Nadia Dining Chair

Following in a close second is the versatile Nadia dining chair—or desk chair or accent chair. Yes, its rattan form is that versatile. (Designer Sarah Sherman Samuel even had the style on her kitchen renovation wish list.)

Sunset Teak Outdoor Lounger

Rounding out the top three, this comfy armless seat has a dramatically angled teak frame that’s seemingly made for drinking coffee on warm mornings. Plus the wood just so happens to be reclaimed and FSC-certified.

CB2 is also seeing an Art Deco resurgence in its smaller goods. The Nouveau floor mirror and Waves brass candleholders are the two pieces with the highest sales growth over the past year. Let’s keep the momentum going in 2022.
