Historic walk-ups have their charms, but if you’re all about ease, you can’t beat a luxury apartment’s shiny new appliances and floor-to-ceiling windows. The only con is often price—unless you live in Georgia. According to a new report from listings site RentCafé, 17 of the top 100 cities in the country for high-end deals are based in the state—a larger share than any other. The report uses the Yardi Matrix to assess each city’s offerings, basing the ranking of every town on the number of rentals in an attractive location with architectural impact, high-quality amenities, interesting layouts, and state-of-the-art finishes. Scoop up a listing in one of these locales.

Warner Robins

In 2009 and 2010, Businessweek named this town the top place in Georgia to raise a family. Two years later, CNN ranked it in its top 10 “Best Places to Live.” Apart from local landmarks like the Museum of Aviation and Robins Air Force Base, people are drawn here for the cost of living: The average rent is only $1,005 a month for a high-end apartment. For that price, this one-bedroom in the Galleria Park Apartments spans 815 square feet and includes walk-in closets, a private patio, and community pool.

Columbus

Columbus sits on the banks of the Chattahoochee River, just across from Phenix City, Alabama—another spot within the top 100. The Columbus Museum is home to an impressive collection of African American art, including works by William Edouard Scott, and the Civil War Museum shows off original cannons and wardrobe of the period. On the other side of town, this two-bedroom in the Wisperwood Apartments costs $1,029 per month—$100 less than the average rent—and you can spend your days either in the massive apartment or outside on the tennis and racquetball courts.

Macon

If you’re not looking to go too suburban, Macon still has 153,000 people and plenty of empty units to fill. The town has a storied history that includes the Harriet Tubman Museum and the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historic Park, which has been in the Muscogee Nation for 17,000 years. Apartments like this one at the Lofts at Zebulon are outfitted with everything from stainless steel appliances and granite countertops to a game room and an infinity pool

Union City

Just outside Atlanta, Union City is rich in the region’s history. Sweetwater Creek State Park and Cochran Mill Park showcase the past and present as one—the ruins of former manufacturing plants are now moss-covered walkways. The area has also been the filming location for multiple blockbusters like Jumanji and Pitch Perfect. This two-bedroom not only has spacious walk-in closets and a working fireplace, it overlooks a lake. Enjoy the scenic views from the sunroom all year round.
