There are certain Anthropologie pieces we instantly recognize—the éclair-shaped sofas for example, one of which was the star of none other than the Domino office, or the intricately carved wood credenzas. The furniture really is one of the store’s biggest draws: It screams luxury and runs the gamut from jewel-toned velvet to bohemian wicker. So it’s no surprise that one of its all-time best-sellers is an armchair.

The Rhys is so popular that it’s been around for 12 years, coming back time and time again even as new collections are introduced. According to Anthropologie, it’s the retailer’s take on Brazilian lounge furniture. Made from sturdy maple and premium leather (and accompanied by a pretty hefty price tag), it’s definitely an investment piece—one that, whatever your personal style, we’re positive you can find use for.

Though you can swap out the upholstery for a bevy of saturated fabrics, ranging in color from bright turquoise to soft pink, we recommend sticking with the original caramel cushions. Leather is much easier to pair with an array of aesthetics, which is especially great if you’re someone whose tastes are constantly changing. To kick things off, here are three ways we’d style it.

The Grandfather’s Study 2.0

Cobalt Wash Wallpaper, Flat Vernacular; Mid-Century Table, France & Son; Floor Lamp, Target Imagery by Madeline Montoya

It’s easy to see a leather chair and have your knee-jerk reaction be: “Old. Stuffy. Mad Men.” We gave the fixture a reputation revamp by modernizing it with graphic wallpaper and a contemporary take on mid-century brass lighting.

The Primary Picks

Rug, Beni Rugs; Bowl, FS Objects; Shelf, Tortuga Living Imagery by Madeline Montoya

Playing off the golden tint of the leather, we brought the rest of the primary gang together with a cobalt striped rug and a bright red bowl. Placing that last accessory on the geometric-shaped shelf and filling it with sentimental pieces would complete the corner—perhaps your crystal collection or the restaurant matchboxes you nab on your travels

The Desert Oasis

Ottoman, Urban Outfitters; Print, Block Shop Textiles; Hanging Planter, Capra Designs Imagery by Madeline Montoya

With a blush hanging planter and mustard block print, this vignette has all the makings of the perfect Southwest-inspired reading nook. Prop your feet up on the rattan ottoman and settle in with that new book you’ve been itching to crack open.
