Why Does This Comforter Have 9,000 Glowing Amazon Reviews?

Here’s a not-so-novel statement: I love my bed. This has something to do with my linen bedding, but if I’m being really analytical about it, I can chalk most of it up to my comforter. It’s from IKEA, and it has the perfect level of squish while maintaining an ideal, Goldilocks-like temperature. All this to say—Amazon’s best-selling duvet had a lot to live up to.
The Linenspa all-season down-alternative comforter is currently at number 14 in the home best-sellers category, making it the most popular duvet at the moment, and at number 5 on the bedding-specific list. It boasts an average 4.5-star rating and almost 11,500 reviews (and counting). Most of them center on how cloud-like it feels, which is the first thing I noticed when I opened the package and spread it over my bed, my IKEA favorite temporarily relegated to the closet for the week.
The first (and most obvious) thing this bedding has going for it is the price. Any way you look at it, $30 for a queen size is pretty incredible, especially since this is a duvet that reportedly doesn’t need a cover. Right now, it’s even cheaper: For a limited time during Cyber Monday, it’ll be $24. However, I recommend using one anyway; some of the reviewers say theirs started showing wear and tear after a few months, which could easily be circumvented.
The second pro is that it’s machine washable. Made from a microfiber down alternative (good news for animal lovers), it’s not as high-maintenance as its feather-filled counterparts—and since you’re reportedly meant to wash your duvet at least every six months to prevent mites, this will undoubtedly come in handy. I should mention, it looks deceptively thin, almost like a quilt. But hot sleepers, beware: Despite its lighter appearance, the blanket actually gets super-warm. If you live in a colder climate, though, it would be perfect for winter.
Personally, I’ll be sticking with my old comforter for now—for me, temperature control and plush texture trump all. If you’re willing to spend a little (or a lot) more, here are some other options worth checking out:

That said, we know you don’t need another reason to keep hitting snooze—indulge at your own risk.
