Contributing Editor

Merisa Libbey Overend is a Los Angeles–based prop and interior stylist, set designer,
and a longtime freelance Domino stylist. She has been working in the design
industry for more than a decade.

Highlights

  • Expertise includes home design and styling.
  • Previous work experience includes freelance stylist at Sunset, Rachel Ray Magazine, Lonny, and styling projects for many notable interior designers and brands.

Experience

After moving to Los Angeles over 15 years ago and working as a dental hygienist, her
first career, Merisa fronted a popular underground band and started taking classes and
experimenting with interior design. After attention from her 2012 Apartment Therapy house tour opened doors to some work in the field, she started freelancing as a prop and interior stylist for clients like local retail stores. Today, she continues to explore her  passion by working on styling professional video and photo shoots for brands such as Google, Starbucks, and Crate & Barrel, and interior design publications like Domino, Rachel Ray Magazine, Sunset, and Lonny.

Education

Merisa attended classes in the UCLA Extension’s Interior Architecture program but most of her experience has been hands on working on set over the past decade.

Design Philosophy

As a Southern Californian, I love Palm Springs, mid-century modern design, and beautiful things in casual settings. I’m very influenced by living on the West Coast and I find it reflects in my work.
